Protecting our most valuable asset – Health

Health and protection Protecting our most valuable asset health Following the successful launch of the ABIs Day One employer toolkit and online mental health training platform, this year has also seen the team deliver research with Cambridge University and RAND Europe, alongside undertaking the 2021 review of the ABI Guide to Minimum Standards for Critical Illness Cover. We developed the Day One employer toolkit to help businesses use the requirement to provide benefit statements to new employees as an opportunity to boost staff wellbeing and productivity, supported by the CBI and GRiD. We launched an online mental health training platform developed, in collaboration with Rightsteps, to provide a CIIaccredited industry benchmark for improving the level of understanding of mental health in customer-facing roles. We delivered research with Cambridge University and RAND Europe assessing the current clinical utility and use of genetic tests to identify the scale of any anti-selection risks and to inform the next review of The Code on Genetic Testing and Insurance. We identified the key data points needed to demonstrate the value of health and protection insurance in supporting the health and wellbeing of the UK population, and developed a roadmap for capture and collection in 2022. We undertook the 2021 review of the ABI Guide to Minimum Standards for Critical Illness Cover to bring definitions into line with clinical practice and help improve customer understanding.
